ALL BOOKS, ARTWORKS, & MEMOIRS; featured here are the AFTERMATH of a BLOODY-WAR

| 11 May, 2019 15:31

ALL BOOKS, ARTWORKS, & MEMOIRS; featured here are the AFTERMATH of a BLOODY-WAR and PTSD which known as COMBAT-FATIQUE, during the Korean War. (B/W Combat-Photo Author, @front row, 4th from left with unit awaiting LST’s boats to cross Han-River to liberate Seoul Korea; 1951) https://www.amazon.com/Curtis-James-Morrow/e/B074TWSKKW/ref=ntt_dp_epwbk_0 THE AFTERMATH: Following my four years tour of duty (one in Korea and 2, 1/2 in Japan) my quest for self discovery, begins with my introduction to nationalism in New York City during the cultural revolution of the early 1960s. Disillusioned with the social and political situation that prevailed at that time, I moved to Accra, Ghana with less than $300.00 and a vow to make a new home for myself. MY SANKOFA concentrates on my eleven years (1965 to 1976) living, working and traveling in Ghana, Togo and the Ivory Coast". I feel that any African born in America, should see the land of their ancestors (Africa) at least once during their lives.. Like a Muslim traveling to their Holy City of Mecca, at least once in their life. In memories of the African-Americans Expatriates who migrated to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's Ghana in answer to his call to Arms "Akoben" & Nations-Builders during the late 1950's. & 1970's.. Before the days of WWW, iPhones or in most cases, even Telephone-Landlines. Check it out: It Was A Born Again Experience. "MY SANKOFA" IS ALSO AVAILABLE AS PAPERBACK BOOK; difference book-cover, same contents.. Enjoy.

The Artist’s Odyssey” Part-2 Hong Kong

| 19 September, 2017 00:33

"The Artist’s Odyssey” Part 2:

We (a group of 5 seniors, organized by Carmen Blake founder of, Brockman Institute) Had a very enlightening Asian tour and I Would appreciate your feedback before publishing  ebook and paperbacks on the demand.. via "P.O.D".

Hong Kong, where we arrived a few hours before Typhoon Hato made its landfall in Macau, the mainland of China, costing extensive damage. we witness some of the after effects via photos as seen during the first 6 minutes of my slideshow, when we dared to leave our hotel and dashed across a deserted street to purchase a few items from a 7up Store, which was the only business open in the area. My first impression was how well organized and efficient the Chinese are, which was exhibit throughout our 12 days visit in Asia. The following day, we took off to explore the city, with the exception of Macau, which was still suffering from Typhoon Hato. it was a dream come true journey.

Thanks to the wisdom of a dear friend, Dr. Margaret Burroughs who during one of her visits to Ghana, I enquired as to could I earn a living as a craftsman when I return to America?

To my Families, Friends and Future Art-Collectors

| 18 January, 2017 17:16

TO MY FAMILIES AND FRIENDS.. And future ART-COLLECTORS:

I’ve always desired to be an artist, the problem which was continually pointed out to me was how would I earn a living,, which took the first 32 years of my life to discover the solution. Or my Solution, which was creating custom made jewelry that people would purchase and wear as adornments while living in Africa, which was a born again experiences, and a source of survivor. A lifesaving discovery that I touched on in "MY SANKOFA". Which was really made clear to me on my return to America after living in eleven years (11 1965 to 1976) in Ghana & West-Africa, where I were tutored by African Craftsmen, after they discover my artistic skills,, and that’s not to leave out the Traders of arts & crafts.

Now reflecting back on those days & years, If only we’d had the technology that available today; it would’ve been like a piece-of-cake.. But, on the other hand we might’ve not developed the skills we now process?

Now in the last years of my life, I'll admit that with the exception of one year, (1950/51) they've been good and very creative,

Now after 35 years of jewelry designing and lost-wax casting, I have returned to my first love, oil painting, and added a newly found one, photography. In fact, I've done everything the doubter I've encounter in life, said I couldn't do,, and wrote books (memoirs) in hope of inspiring others. See Details below:

the-artist-statement.html

http://mysankofa2012.artspan.com/

Like an old friend once told me.. “Kojo, you better blow your own horn, cause nobody else going to do it.”

Thank you much, Dr. B,, aka Dr. Margaret G. Burroughs, & may she RIP.

The Value Of  Art; via WWW:

Two reasons for investing in the Arts..

#1. For the temporarily enjoyment of surrounding ourselves with it's beauty.

#2. And To leave things of value to those we love the most, that'll grow in value to them and theirs for eternity.
